In the discussion week 1 you were tasked to identify a men’s and women’s College/University basketball team that you would be working with throughout the course. For this assignment you will be designing an Athlete Assessment Plan for both teams. Use the College/University web site to correctly identify the Men’s and Women’s Basketball Team’s Head Coaches and the Men’s and Women’s Basketball Team’s Head Athletic Trainer(s). Often larger Colleges/Universities have a unique Head Athletic Trainer for both teams.
For this assignment you will pretend that you are the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for both the Women’s and the Men’s Basketball teams. As the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach you will work with the assistance and input of the Head Men’s and Women’s Basketball Coaches and the Head Men’s and Women’s Basketball Athletic Trainer(s) to develop an Athlete Assessment Plan. This plan will be unique to each team and will involve looking into the assessment data needs of the Head Strength Coach, the Head Basketball Coach, and the Head Trainer for each team. Sex of the Athlete is a major consideration for your Athlete Assessment Plan. Also, past athlete performance, team performance, common injuries, and performance expectations at the highest competition level possible, including the professional level, must also be considered.
You are required to include assessments from the following areas:

Transitional and Dynamic Posture

Assignment 1 Instructions:
Athlete Assessment Plan
For this assignment you will be responsible to provide the following information: Present your chosen College/University’s men’s and women’s Basketball Programs and the Athlete Assessment Plan for each team.
Identify your chosen Men’s and Women’s College/University Basketball Teams, and provide a link to this year’s rosters. You will provide two unique links: one Women’s, one Men’s link. Using the course readings as primary sources, list the demands of the sport of basketball, define the goals of the Athlete Assessment Plan within and a brief overview, 2 to 4 paragraphs. Explain what you expect the gathered assessment data will show you, as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach in regard to periodization planning and training program design.
Men’s Basketball Team Assessment Plan

There may be repetition within this athlete assessment plan, however, you are to clarify unique adjustments/alterations made for the sex of the athlete. Also, with all assessments, a reference of protocol must be provided. For example, the physiological assessment of resting heart rate protocol can be found on page 87, of McGill, E., Montel, I., (2019). NASM Essentials of Performance Training (Second Ed.). Jones & Bartlett Learning your PES text book, and should be cited next to the name of the assessment with the following criteria (McGill & Montel, 2019, p. 87). Cite the sources of any definitions or ideas that are not your own using appropriate academic sources (Reference page must be present – required readings as sources are encouraged).
